IPL Orange and Purple Cap Award
The Orange Cap is awarded to the batsman with the most cumulative runs to his name on each day of the season, he will have the honour of wearing that cap in the field. The Orange Cap is a traditional style cricket cap.
At the end of the season, the holder of the Orange Cap will win the honour of being called the 'Winner of Orange Cap for that year' and will receive recognition for his deeds with the willow on the occasion of the Grand Finals in the city.
The Purple Cap is awarded to the bowler who has the most cumulative wickets to his name on each day of the season, the bowler will have the honour of wearing the purple cap on the field.
At the end of the season, the holder of the Purple Cap will get the honour of being called the Winner of the Purple Cap and they will receive recognition on the final day. In the event of a tie at any given time, the holder will be determined by superior economy rate.
The Orange Cap will be awarded to the batsman with the most number of runs in the tournament. The Purple Cap is given to the bowler with most number of wickets in the league. During the tournament, the top batsman and bowler will get the honour to wear these caps while on the field. At the end of IPL 5, they will receive awards for being the best.
